About Me
My name is D’Angelo Yanez. I currently live in the Tri-Cities, Washington area, but I’m originally from Sunnyside, WA. I’m happily married and blessed with an amazing son.
My journey into photography has been a unique one. In 2017, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as a Combat Photographer, knowing absolutely nothing about photography or journalism at the time. I simply thought it sounded like an interesting career path. After completing Boot Camp and Marine Combat Training, I attended the Defense Information School in Maryland, where I earned my certification in Basic Still Photography.
From there, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for two years before receiving orders to Quantico, Virginia, where I completed the remainder of my service.
After leaving the Marine Corps, I spent nearly two years debating whether or not to pick up my camera again. Throughout my military career, most of my photography focused on fast-paced, uncontrolled action shots, so transitioning into a completely different style of photography felt intimidating. With constant encouragement from my wife, I finally decided to take the leap and pursue it.
Looking back now, I realize how much I truly enjoy being behind the camera. Photography has allowed me to connect with people, tell stories, and preserve meaningful moments in a way I never expected.
